Tyra and I were on two panels together at Dragon-Con 2026 where she was an inimitable delight. She’s so popular that the only way to get a half hour of her time is to get booked on Be Awesome Together or be one of the Kennesaw State University students who takes her marketing classes. We talked about long breaks from writing, the marketing mistakes I made with Alias & Apocalyses,, bad statistics, and our experiments with visual art.

Wait You Haven’t Seen…? Episode 389 - Obsession (2026)
Travis is the most informed, unpretentious, accessible, film buff I’ve had the pleasure of meeting. I loved listening to an interview he did on Be Awesome Together talking about the Addams family, refurbishing an old radio into something new, as well as me enjoying his podcast(s) (I suggest Singin’ in the Rain, Gremlins, Citizen Cane, & Starship Tropers.) Because of that, we were able to chat and set up a time to discuss a movie I hadn’t seen yet. We talked about the horror movie Obsession. How it is an amazing horror movie because of how uncomfortable the viewing experience was, and how that related to horror and narrative over all.

The Experience: Conversations with Creatives hosted by Clint Hall
Clint and I hit it off at Dragon Con 2025 while in the Digital Media Track. His book’s premise sounds amazing, his music taste is great, and he’s a delight to talk to. I genuinely had trouble ending the call. We discussed ways of thinking about success and approaches to sustaining creativity. At the time of recording, I had only just started publishing Betrayal & Botanicles, which is book 2 in The Passions of the Middle End series.
I strongly suggest listening to Clint’s interviews with John Hartness and Bob McGough. Both are fascinating people.
